Lessons in Quality: Worktops in Abitum
Doimo Cucine is offering its retailers educational days to learn more about Abitum ceramic panels. This programme is offered various times throughout the year, so that everyone can stay up to date.
Lessons take place at the Abitum headquarters, where it is possible to see and test the characteristics of these ceramic panels used for worktops in Doimo Cucine kitchens. Attendees are offered suggestions for designing worktops and understanding how they move, with illustrations and commentary on guidelines to be followed during their installation, together with explanations of the best procedures for maintenance and cleaning. This initial phase ends with a question period, during which retailers are invited to ask questions, seek clarifications and raise any doubts that are best answered by those most familiar with this product.
The next step in the training process takes place in the laboratory, observing tests on how to treat and clean worktops in Abitum, marked by liquids or damaging products such as vinegar, wine, lemon, oil, markers or nail polish. The results of these tests show that, by following the correct procedure and using the appropriate cleaning products, stains are completely removed. Particularly noteworthy is the test where a screwdriver is pressed firmly against the surface — yet it withstands the force without any damage, remaining completely intact.
Participants then visit the factory to observe first-hand the entire process of manufacturing this material, from powder to pressing, to the successive phase of baking, from the design to the scanning of textures, to their final printing on these surfaces. This process is almost entirely mechanised and carried out by robots, given the elevated temperatures, though final quality control is entrusted to the sensitivities of the human eye.
Training concludes with a visit to the showroom, where it is possible to view and see for yourself the entire range of available finishes, in large format samples.
